The Nagaland Beekeeping & Honey Mission (NBHM) participated in the Independence Day celebrations on 15 August 2026 at the Sammogooting Ground, Chümoukedima, showcasing Nagaland’s growing beekeeping and honey sector through The Honey Hub.
Showcasing Nagaland’s Beekeeping Potential
Under the banner of The Honey Hub, the NBHM stall featured a variety of honey products and value-added apiculture products. The display highlighted the growing potential of beekeeping as a sustainable livelihood while promoting locally produced honey and encouraging greater appreciation for Nagaland’s rich apiculture resources.
The exhibition also served as a platform to create awareness about the opportunities available across the beekeeping value chain, from honey production and processing to product development, value addition and entrepreneurship.
Honourable Minister Visits the NBHM Stall
NBHM was honoured to welcome Shri C.L. John, Honourable Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change (EF&CC) and Village Guards (V.G.), during his visit to the exhibition.
The Honourable Minister interacted with the NBHM team and took keen interest in the Mission’s activities, initiatives and progress in promoting beekeeping across Nagaland. He expressed his appreciation for the work being undertaken by the Mission and commended NBHM’s performance, describing it as one of the best-performing missions in Nagaland.
His encouraging words and recognition provided a significant boost to the NBHM team and reaffirmed the importance of continued efforts towards strengthening Nagaland’s beekeeping ecosystem.
Connecting with the Community
The Independence Day exhibition provided NBHM with an opportunity to engage with dignitaries, government officials, entrepreneurs, producers and members of the public. Through these interactions, the Mission continued to promote the potential of beekeeping, honey production, value addition and sustainable rural livelihoods across the state.
The participation also helped bring greater visibility to local honey producers and the growing range of products emerging from Nagaland’s beekeeping sector.
As NBHM continues its efforts to strengthen the apiculture ecosystem, the Mission remains committed to supporting beekeepers, promoting entrepreneurship, encouraging value addition and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities across Nagaland.
